Skiing at the Botanical Gardens
Another great week of skiing! Starting from the visitors center, along Birch Allee to the Rhododendrons and Perennials then on to the Shoreland Trail along the Sheepscot River, I could taste a hint of salt on my lips. Following the shore was just amazing, although I was alone on this journey, it was very tranquil, reflecting and romantic. I became a bit emotional at the beauty of the trek.
I had an opportunity to visit the trails in early spring with my daughter Lauren, and a few times over the busy summer but this gave an entirely different feel of the area. To view the plants and trees this time of year I felt as though I was a participant in a Christmas card. The pines, stone walls, birches, and perennials were just amazing.
Nordic skiing, snowshoeing or just winter hikes on these stunning acres is the perfect way to spend a winter day-I am anxious to get out there on a full moon evening and hope to have company on this magnificent forest and shore of the Boothbay Peninsula in Mid Coast of Maine.
